Introdans, Bont in Blauw

BONT EN BLAUW

Roel Voorinholt art director of Introdans together with Ton Wigger his general manager, once again have done a superb work full of delicate nuances. Introdans, as neoclassic and contemporary dance company have behind them more than 40 years, and this bakground is obvious on having put again at the head of a new spectacle, that don't let time neither for the boredom nor for the nonchalance. Curiously is very appropriated for children and young people, though in my opinion we are the grown ups those that we enjoyed as real baby.

Bont en Blauw (Blue Rainbow) is much more than dance; twelve young dancers shape this show in which they delight us with seven pieces, each one more interesting and surprising. The begin with "Crucible", piece of the north american choreographer Alwin Nikolais, being precisely the premiere for this spectacle. Game of hands and legs  that are reflected over mirrors, they are forming and shaping figures in which the light and the reflection of the same one on the bodies plays an important role. Continuously and of the same choreographer "Noumenon", "Two not yet together" and "Tensile involvement" maybe the last one the most striking because of the use of a elastic tapes that are merged close to the precious movement of the dancers and turn into a framework of agility, skill and harmony.

With "short circuit" of Jhon Meyers, two dancers in the scene, while one of them directs the steps across a computer in which abstract figures are appearing on a screen, the other dancer plays with these forms and exoteric lights. This play serve to show us the skill as a dancer of Aymeric Aude. To finish "Blue journey" from Dutch choreographer David Middendorp. If we thought that we had already seen everything, we were totally wrong. A video animation crosses the stage and the dancers cross the scene becoming accomplices and
companions of the journey of their counterparts animated figures.

But the most interesting is that in Bont in Blauw, Introdans play with the viewer in an elegant and subtle way allowing us to share their extraordinary expressiveness. I would define them like a company that not only is a dance, since the form they use the body, I see them very close to the "body art". Introdans rely on for each of their works, as it comes being usually in their trajectory, of foreign objects or elements to the human body, as mirrors, benches, clothes, tapes or videos among others.

It is therefore, and art explosion, an authentic pleasure for all senses, thanks to the wise use of impeccable lighting and a very good selection of music, and of course by excellent dancers who take their aesthetic and artistic possibilities of their bodies to the maximum.

Bont in blauw

Bill Viola

Bill Viola, the return

Everything flows, everything changes,
Everything is born and dies,
Nothing stands still.
Everything is diluted,
that it has a beginning it has an end,
What is the born, dies,
and compounds discompose.

Everything flows, nothing stand still, is part of the thinking and ideas of philosophers such as Heraclitus or Parmenides, both from the pre-socratic school and studying the human phenomenon among VI-Vcenturies B.C. Just one hundred years after this premise would be followed by the teachings of Siddharta Gautami, commonly called Buda. And now again, almost at the end of XX century Bill Viola reflects this idea in his video-installations. The idea of impermanence, the passage of time is present in the work of the american artist.

Water, a constantly moving element that speaks to us about the pass of time, is used in many of his works. Viola through the use of performance and body art, converting his works in video-installations, in which he always interprets life and death in some way. and thus explain Viola's fixation by water, the idea of drowning, as a "metaphor of the wonderful world of suspension". This obsession haunts him from his childhood when he almost drowned,

"The return" is part of a Transfiguration series, in which he was involved between 2007-2008. "3 women", "the passing", "visitation" or "the return" have in common water, light and the catharsis of the passage from life to death. With an aesthetic that remind us of Renaissance scenes but within a zen look. His use of ultra-slow motion video encoring the viewer to sink into the image and connect deeply to the meaning contained within.

In "the return" Viola uses just shades of grey and intensive red, to define death and life simultaneously. Both colors are symbolic and refer to us to something more spiritual than earthly.

Todo fluye, todo cambia,
todo nace y muere,
nada permanece,
todo se diluye;
